200 hungry dogs & 4 tiny pieces of bread.

we've been looking to own a place here for a few months now. we're aggressive now & then. we've heard our friends do a lot things.. finding innovative ways to buy a space. so, we've been at it as well. we looked in the not so great neighbourhoods.. the gang of boys exiting a dark alley diagonally opposite the house had us scampering for life. we looked in the transition areas.. we looked for tiny homes in nice areas.. & now.. we were looking at a brand new house. the floor plan was simple.. & nice. nothing fancy. the neighbourhood had that comfortable suburbie feel. there was an apricot orchard a block away. rockstar elem schools.. etc.. so, there were 4 houses ready for sale & the builder would pick with lucky owners - the lottery system. all was groovy. we saw the model homes. liked it. added our names to the lottery. all through there was a steady trickle of people.. but come 2pm - time for the lottery - it was a crowd! there were about 200+ people who entered their names for the draw! & the crowd was evenly indian & chinese. & there were all of 3 whites! & ofcourse we didn't win. but 2 indians won.. & we cheered them on!the others we wondering why L & I were happy that someone else won.but.. it was interesting to see this young couple with a li'l baby who were picked first.. picking up the most expensive townhome (750k!!!)without batting an eyelid! & 750 is base.. i'm sure they'd throw inupgrades as well.. it was a crazy atmosphere.. almost like there were a hundred hungry dogs & a man throwing li'l bits of bread at them.. it was a reality check of all sorts!

& there i was.. worried about my drive.. my afternoon 20 min TV time & nap.. my MBA!!! hahaha! & i dunno if i would really do it.. but i was wondering how i'd manage a berkeley MBA if i lived in sunnyvale!
